Post - Extraction Instruction Leaflet
- You have just had a surgical procedure and you can expect some discomfort and swelling. It is advisable to take an appropriate painkiller as soon as you get home. Be careful not to bite your lip while it is numb.
- Do not rinse your mouth for 24 hours - the wound heals by filling with a blood clot. If you keep rinsing it out, you will infect the socket
- Don't eat or drink anything very hot - it might start the bleeding again. Let drinks (e.g tea) cool down and avoid spicy food and alcohol
- If it does start to bleed, roll up a clean damp cloth (NOT tissues or cotton wool)as thick as a sausage, put it over the gum and bite on it hard for at least 15 minutes without disturbing it.
- After 24 hours you can rinse your mouth out with hot salty water ( 1 teaspoon to a glass of water).
- If ypu have any concerns, please telephone the practice during normal practice hours or out of hours telephone Croydent on
O845 000 4567 between 7pm and 9pm if you require advice.
